Built a new pen for my hens so they can have more grass to graze on and dig for bugs.

Wet Ladies

After three inches of rain over two days, here are two of my hens that are so wet from coming out into the rain. I have never seen them so wet, now they do have a dry hen house where there is also food, but they want to come out in the pen and dig around where I also provide food even though that gets wet when it rains. Now that the rains have stopped, so too can my ladies dry off...

My Future Garden

I have decided that his spot on my property will be the location of my future garden. Yeah I knowhave a lot of work to do here, besides clearing this old cut down brush and trees (which was here before I got here), I also plan to put a fence around this area and hope to plant a spring garden there. I know I have a lot of work ahead of me, hope I am up for it..

"New" hinge to the Front Gate

Built this new hinge to the front gate, yes..it was my own artistic way of using what is on the land to make into something that works. My neighbor who saw it described it as "hippie rigging", I suppose that is an apt description, main thing is that it works and I did not spend any money at the expensive hardware stores.. Yeah, I like that..

Warm-up Coming

The arctic cold will finally retreat for a while and a warm-up will be coming for most later this week.. Been cold and rainy here so some sun and warmth will be welcome..

The Arctic Cold

The Arctic has sent down the largest high pressure air in a year, covering all but about one forth of the country. I know everyone is really hurting from this cold, even in my area in the deep south, the temp got no higher than 29 in central TX, I can imagine how everyone else is doing.

Neighbor's Cabin

My neighbor is moving out of his cabin soon. It is a great place, but rustic, completely off grid but no built in shower and an outdoor compost toilet. It has electricity, electric heater and a sink built in on the front porch. It does have a water line from a well also to the cabin.

Gate + Fence

I finished work on the entrance gate and adding a fence to it, I think this will insure my privacy. Yesterday I had the septic guy and the propane guy come by, I met both at my gate after hearing their trucks coming down my road. I like having control over who comes on my property.
